How We Invest

Intelligence, Insight and Integrity

Our top priority, always, is to act in your best interests. We do that by finding opportunities to help lower your costs, manage your taxes, and simplify complex investment situations. Here’s how we work to achieve those three key goals—and what you can expect when you work with the associates at McLaren Wealth Strategies:

The heart of any financial plan is the prudent management of the assets on your own balance sheet.

Our first task is to determine your long-term objectives. Do you plan to maintain your current income level in retirement? Are you looking to achieve capital appreciation for a retirement many years in the future? What is your mix of tax-deferred assets, such as a 401k or IRA, compared to your taxable investments? And when do you plan to draw on each?

Only when all your needs and expectations have been clearly established can we begin exploring the assets and securities that will pursue your goals.

Broadly speaking, we follow an asset class allocation approach.

We believe in investing across a wide range of stock and bond funds that provide ample diversification, including those that resonate as familiar, and also exceptional unique businesses.

Through ongoing research and conversations with investment companies across the country, we continuously assess challenges on the horizon and fine-tune our strategies. Over time, we will make adjustments between stocks and bonds, or international and domestic markets, designed to achieve optimal outcomes for you.

Diversification and asset allocation do not ensure a profit or protect against a loss. Investing involves risk and you may incur a profit or loss regardless of strategy selected.

Most importantly, we aim for success in the long run, not the short term.

The markets are full of noise, much of which cancels itself out over time. It is the long-term returns, and the power of compounding, that drive a portfolio. We believe investors have the best chance of long-term success within "core" investment portfolios that leverage tax-efficient and low-cost pooled investment vehicles as basic portfolio building blocks.

However, for those investors interested in pursuing potentially higher returns, we also provide several additional portfolios constructed of individual positions and investment strategies from Raymond James and others.
